Just the Facts: Introduction

The topic of this blog will revolve around American politics. Primarily, it will encompass the national government and the bills, laws, and controversies that the United States government creates.

While most people know that everyone has innate biases that one cannot help, the blog will not claim that a political side is right or wrong.

News agencies also tend to bombard the audience with political jargon. Unfortunately, that can make it so that consumers of the media have a hard time following the story because they do not understand the debate in the first place.

Additionally, young voters, who tend to vote the least in elections, need a place where just the facts get reported. Sadly, a lot of young people get their political news solely from social media. Social media political news consumption is a harmful practice because rarely do the accounts get fact-checked.

I have decided to cover the politics topic for a multitude of reasons. The first is that, as previously mentioned, many news organizations claiming to be fair and nonpartisan tend to subtly let their agenda shine through their news stories. So instead, the blog will cover only the facts of what happened, hence the name, Just the Facts.

As a result, there is a void in the media of young people discussing politics for one's peers and how policies will affect the country.

Finally, I want to cover this topic because I would like to someday work for a news organization covering the politics of America. My ultimate goal is to one day have my own segment or show where I can discuss politics. Therefore, this blog will be a great way to gain experience covering hot button and polarizing issues.
